Welcome to Day 10 of the Summer Kick-Off Challenge!
Today is officially the last day of the challenge. I have had so much fun creating sample menus and helping you all with the challenge. A big thank you to everyone who joined! Again, thank you all so much! I have had a wonderful time with this challenge. I hope you continue to eat at least low-sugar (if not sugar-free!). A word of warning: be careful going back to sugar this week and weekend. Don’t go over board because your body is not used to eating sugar these past ten days.
Thought-provoking, mind-prodding question of the day:
How was the sugar-free challenge???!!! Please tell me all your experiences and how your body feels! I would love to know!

great challenge! (although i will admit, it was hard, but only because over the course of the week i learned that there are a lot of foods with sugar in my house…). i’ll probably go back to eating some sugar (still, less than before) but i am glad to have discovered some new-to-me foods like unsweetened chocolate and roasted smokehouse almonds, which give me energy without the unnerving sugar rush. 🙂
Sugar Free Alex says
So glad you enjoyed it! And yay for a new unsweetened chocolate lover 😀

I completed the challenge, was true to the challenge, for 10 days i had absolutely no sugar of any kind, including sugar substitute. I was shocked at how most boxed, bagged, and processed foods all have sugar of some kind. I lost a solid 5 pounds. I did go thru a bit of a sugar withdrawal, headache, moody, but did not last long. Eating out was hard. Anyway it was great and I will continue for another 10 days. thanks for the challenge to kick start good health and weight loss.

Christine,
I am so glad you enjoyed the challenge, and congrats on the nice weight loss! Good luck with your future sugar-free plans 😀

I loved the challenge so much I am continuing to make it a Sugar Free Summer!!! 🙂 The hardest part was making cupcakes today for my son’s birthday party. I couldn’t even lick the frosting off my fingers! Later I was thinking, why didn’t I make him sugar free cupcakes?? Do you have a sugar free frosting recipe??
Sugar Free Alex says
Tracy,
Fantastic! I am so glad you enjoyed it and are continuing. I actually do have a sugar-free cupcake recipe. It is for a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting, found here: http://www.spoonfulofsugarfree.com/2011/03/11/theres-peanut-butter-on-my-chocolate/

The challenge was more difficult at first than I expected, but did get easier. I really liked my new focus on fruits and vegetables. I have more energy, my skin looks healthier, and I am much less moody. I am going to work on transitioning my kids to sugar free as well. Thanks for the challenge!

So glad you enjoyed it, Kelly!

I enjoyed the challenge. I’m going to try to keep it up but may have a little sugar every once in awhile. Crazy thing is, I don’t miss the sugar like I thought I would. It is nice to just focus on whole foods like fruits and veggies to satisfy the sweet craving.

I loved how eating sugar free made me feel. I have more energy, my skin is healthier, and I feel more in control. It was more difficult at first, especially as I thought of all the food in my home that is full of sugar. As soon as I started to focus on the good things I could eat, things got a lot easier. Thanks for the great challenge.

Not as hard as I thought! Granted, I was a bit lenient at times – I had ketchup, pickles, roasted nuts, and salsa that all had a little bit of sugar in them, but for me the real purpose was to eat less SWEETS, which I was successful in. I’ve found I don’t really need sweetener in my coffee and that fruit is a wonderful substitute for typical dessert. I think I will return to eating some sugar, but definitely keep it to a minimum and try to avoid refined sugars. Thank you for hosting this challenge!

I loved the challenge! My family who was visiting, not so much, and there were several days when I just cooked for myself 😉 Now that they are gone, I’ll be making larger portions so my children can get the full affect (coming home with ice cream completely defeats the purpose…and seriously made me jealous) so I guess we’re doing an extended version of the challenge 😀
