Welcome to day thirty-one of the Sugar Free Challenge! Today is officially the last day of the challenge. I have had so much fun creating sample menus and helping you all with the challenge. A big thank you to everyone who joined! I hope you all had a great time learning about (and eating!) sugar-free food. Maybe you found that it wasn’t as hard as you thought? Or perhaps you found you ate too much sugar before?
Now onto today’s sample menu:
Breakfast: Veggie Omelet. Vegan Option: PBC Bars
Lunch: Steak Salad. Sliced steak, spinach, cucumbers, red peppers, onions, olives, fresh strawberries all drizzled in balsamic vinegar and ground black pepper. Vegan Option: Omit meat and substitute chickpeas.
Dinner: Pesto Socca Pizza with Grilled Veggies and Chicken Sausages Vegan Option: omit meat.
Dessert: Crock Pot Cinnamon applesauce
Exercise Option: For those of you who chose to take part of the exercise challenge, your challenge today is to do 50 crunches, 10 squat jumps, 15 pushups, 20 1-legged calf raises (10 each leg).
Again, thank you all so much! I have had a wonderful time with this challenge. I hope you continue to eat at least low-sugar (if not sugar-free!). A word of warning: be careful going back to sugar this week and weekend. Don’t go over board because your body is not used to eating sugar this past month.
Also, I am sent all the challengers who signed up a email, and attached will be a questionnaire about the challenge. If you could please fill this out, I would be very thankful! The questionnaire helps me learn more about how sugar reacts with the body and how I can improve my sugar-free challenges. If you have not received an email and would like to fill out the questionnaire, please email me at spoonfulofsugarfree@gmail.com.
Thought-provoking, mind-prodding question of the day:
How was the sugar-free challenge???!!! Please tell me all your experiences and how your body feels! I would love to know!

I’ve loved it! It definitely wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I definitely have less cravings, less anxiety about food, and am glad I’m not using splenda and other fake sugars anymore. I posted a sugar-free dark chocolate oatmeal recipe this morning and let my readers know I’ll be extending the challenge into February! Anyone with me?!

Anna,
Fabulous! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Good luck in your next challenge.

I am with you! Still have not broken my sugar free gum habit. Another month might help?! My only vice and should not wait until lent, as no time like the present..
pure2rawtwins says
well we did not follow your challenge to the “T” 😉 but for the past week we have been sugar-free completely, no fruit no nothing except a little stevia. doing it to see if it helps with our skin. we think it will!
spoonfulofsugarfree says
I definitely think that sugar has an affect on the skin. Good luck, girls!

I didn’t participate, but just want to say how in awe I am of all those who did! A month is a long, long time to go sugar free if you’re not used to it. Congrats to everyone 🙂

Thanks for the sweet comment, Jennie! And yes, one month is definitely a long time, and I don’t think I’ll host another one this long again. Many of my readers wanted a longer challenge, so I thought that New Year’s would be the best time to do it! Next time I’ll probably stick with 10 days.
Jennie (the gf-gf) says
I’d definitely be game for another 10 day challenge! I knew that a whole month would be biting off a little more than I can chew at this point 🙂

I just stumbled across your blog, but I am glad I did! I have been eating a lot of sugar lately, and I am thinking of taking a two week challenge to rein my chocolate habit back in. I wish I had seen this challenge earlier this year! I absolutely would have joined. 🙂 Looking forward to reading more from you …
