Welcome to day twenty of the Sugar Free Challenge!
I’m still on a liquid diet and my cheeks are still huge, but at least the chills went away. I’m completely craving a hot Grilled Cheese and Ham sandwich right now, which is crazy because I never crave bread or cheese…Maybe watching the food network channel’s “Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich” show wasn’t the smartest choice since I cannot eat anything but liquids.
Here is today’s Liquified sample menu:
Breakfast: Liquid Chia Pudding. Kind of like the Tropical Chia Pudding Parfait pictured above, sans fruit and coconut. Simply mix some chia seeds with Almond-Coconut Milk and let sit for 15 minutes.
Lunch: Fresh Squeezed juice. I used 1 apple, 1 bell pepper, 1 lemon, and a few stalks celery. In case your curious, the picture above is the Spicy Tomato Soup Cure (along with a fresh-squeezed juice). I’m staying away from spicy foods so that it doesn’t aggravate my wounds; however, if you have a sore throat or cold, I would definitely give the recipe a shot!
Snack: Baby Food. Yes, I just said baby food, but hear me out! It is full of fruits and veggies in a soft form, it has a lot of vitamins and minerals, it’s organic and made from just fruit and veggies (no added dairy/sugar), and it comes in an easy to use pouch that I can save in the refrigerator if I don’t finish it. I simply squirt a bit on my tongue and swallow! The spinach mango pear (pictures above) has been my favorite so far.
Dinner: Butternut Squash Soup. I love it thick and creamy, but I had to water it down a bit so I could swallow it.
Dessert: Magic Banana Ice Cream (sans the cacao nibs in picture).
Exercise Option: For those of you who chose to take part of the exercise challenge, your challenge today is to do 50 crunches, 10 squat jumps, 15 pushups, 20 1-legged calf raises (10 each leg).
THOUGHT-PROVOKING, MIND-PRODDING QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Do you have any other ideas for my liquid diet? Have you ever been on one?
Also, do you ever eat “strange” foods like baby food? Laugh all you want, but they are actually pretty tasty!
Remember that you can track what you eat on the printable Challenge Checklist.

I’ve tried my niece’s baby food and most of it wasn’t that bad like you say…I also have used baby food in some protein bar recipes. … You could always eat mashed potatoes!

Poor baby! I hope you are feeling better this morning! Maybe you can get your Mom to make some cauliflour-cheese soup — boil the cauliflour, and then put it into the blender and some chicken broth–about a half cup should do it. Then puree the mixture. Put that in a soup pot and add some milk (you could use any of your special milks) – to the consistency you desire. Add some shredded cheese and heat till the cheese is melted. I THINK this is sugar-free! I’m sure you can make it even better by playing with this recipe, but maybe this will help give you another “liquid” option for lunch or dinner! Good luck! (You can do this same recipe with broccoli…)
Love, M

Thanks, Marcia. Maybe I’ll have to try a “cream of cauliflower” soup with almond milk or something (since I can’t eat dairy). But I love the idea!

we are not sure if we would call it a liquid diet, but we have done liquids foods all day for a few days before, we like to do it from time to time to help give our bodies a little ‘digestion’ break from our typical eats.

I was going to suggest cheesey mashed potatoes to curb your craving but it seems like they might be even too thick for your teeth right now. Hopefully you can whip up something chewable and tasty in the next few days!

I remember years ago I read that after Ann Margaret took a fall in Las Vegas, she had some jaw problems. He husband would liquify pizza. I say go for it. Lousy surgery that one. Maybe one of those socca flatbreads, don’t brown it too much, put something nutritious on top like hummus or tahnin? Pesto? Baby food it great, I used to make banana bread with the baby bananas and carrot cake with the carrots. Purer than that, you don’t get.

Anita,
Wow! That sounds very…..interesting….I might have to try the pizza thing. But I love the banana bread idea-I could simply eat the batter of my grain-free banana bread (sans eggs). This is basically just almond butter, chia, bananas, and ground flax with spices-all good for you.

Alex I would definatly add miso to your liquid diet! As for the baby food I have to been eating it since I am making it for Peyton…I have to try it b4 giving it to her! And I must say its pretty good:) All I do is use my vitamix on whatever I feel like feeding her and bam there it is. As for your cheese sandwhich mayb mash a potato with cheese and blend it..that might fix ur craving:) hope you feel better soon sweets…xo

Caysee,
That’s a great idea! I have some brown rice miso in the fridge. I will make some broth to sip on. And yes, I dearly want a vitamix (so much more powerful than my magic bullet). Can’t wait to see both you and Peyton soon! xoxo
