Welcome to day six of the Sugar Free Challenge! I hope you are all doing well and having fun! Sometimes it can be hard to stick to the sugar-free diet over the weekend when there are many temptations from friends and family. Good job to everyone who did not give in! If you did give in, keep your head held high and keep trying. You can do it!
Here is today’s sample menu:
Breakfast: Pumpkin Spice Latte Granola with unsweetened almond milk
Lunch: Dairy-Free Supreme Nachos complete with black beans, salsa, black olives, cilantro, and homemade nacho cheez sauce.
Snack: High Protein Cookies
Dinner: Garrick-Stuffed Steak with a side of vegetables. Vegan Option: Brown Rice Stir-Fry
Dessert: Fluffy Banana Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Thought-provoking, mind-prodding question of the day:
How has your week of sugar-free been so far? Do you think you could do it for long term?

It’s been tough but fun to challenge myself- I’ll definetely have a good recap post to put up about my thoughts and experiences 🙂 Have a great day!

When you make your high protein cookies, do you use a regular blender or a food processor? My blender needs more liquid to do stuff like that, and then I always end up with something too runny… Suggestions?
Also thanks again for posting the daily menus!!

Hey Val,
I use a magic bullet, actually, and it is powerful enough to blend them until smooth. If you have a food processor, I would use that instead of a blender, though.

Thanks so much. I’ve been thinking about buying a magic bullet. Mostly because its so easy to clean, and its frustrating to have a clean a huge blender for a single serving recipe haha. I don’t have a food processor either… just my old little blender. hahah
Thanks though! I might try a slightly different method. I’ll let you know!

I might be the odd girl out on this, but i had a much easier time staying sugar free over the weekend because I had so many tasty sugar free snacks around the house. Back at work yesterday, I was sitting right next to the candy dish, and it was tempting!
Honestly, I don’t think I could be totally sugar free in the long term, but I am definitely learning a lot from the challenge about hidden sugars and when to ignore my sugar cravings and when to compromise with a tasty sugar free treat – so I am definitely hoping to reduce my sugar consumption after the challenge is over!

Even though I didn’t enter the challenge, I’ve been finding I’ve been eating sugar free anyways (I guess my body was saying it wanted to do your challenge). I love your cookies sandwiches!!!!

I think the challenge is easier for me, as I am trying to cook sugar free anyhow, mainly for my little boy (he’s almost a year old, and doesn’t need any added sugar, he’s got too much energy as is!)
I usually eat what he eats, so have cut out most sugars in my diet anyway – it’s amazing how much better I feel. My energy is constant, not up and down – my skin is better, and my mood is GREAT!
Love that you are getting the ‘sugar free’ way out there Alex, keep up the awesome work 🙂

So glad everything is well, Lou!

The hardest part for me isn’t avoiding sweets, because I rarely indulge anyway. It’s more difficult doing without items with small amounts of added sugar, like bread and peanut butter, or even vitatops! I know they aren’t the healthiest, but they’re healthier, and they taste good… I do have natural cashew butter from whole foods that I’m using, but sometimes you just can’t beat the creaminess of peanut butter.
