Once again, I am very sorry for my lack of posts and new recipes. March has been a hectic month for me, in a good way! Between family visiting, a quick trip to Chicago, and an ear infection, life has been a little crazy. Creating a new recipe and taking pictures, therefore, was a little too much to add to my plate.
I hope you enjoy this slideshow of some of the pictures I took while in Chicago. I caught them on a lovely weekend: mid-70s every day and sunny!

Now go get those recipe ideas flowing!
P.S. The winner of the Digital Kitchen Scale is Heather. Thanks to all who entered!
One of my favorite desserts is lemon cake… a tough one for no sugar! I would love a recipe for a sugar free lemon cake or cookie!
I love Chicago! Great pictures! Hmmmm…a recipe…how about a sugar-free BBQ sauce?
Maryea,
I actually do have a sugar free bbq sauce recipe! http://www.spoonfulofsugarfree.com/2011/05/26/beware-of-the-bbq/
I love tiramisu but just can’t master it without sugar, would love for you to figure it out!
looks like a fun trip, with tons of cool architecture. My knees would have been so wobbly in that skywalk! hmmm I’ve been wanting a tuna casserole lately that reminds me of childhood- sans gluten and dairy… although I know canned fish freaks you out so I may be on my own with this one.
I would also love to see a sugar free BBQ sauce.
Ann Marie,
I actually do have a sugar free bbq sauce recipe! http://www.spoonfulofsugarfree.com/2011/05/26/beware-of-the-bbq/
Thanks! I can’t wait to try it.
I want a breakfast recipe that is gluten and sugar free that my mom can do in 20 minutes or less. I don’t care what it is (preferably not too strange because my dad has to like it too)!
Kenzie,
Check out my “breakfast” recipe tab for some ideas!
Me???? Are you sure?? LOL I’ve never won anything. Thank you soooo much!! π
I don’t know if this is out there – but I really, really miss ketchup – and can’t seem to find a sugar-free variety. Have you a recipe with that vinegar tang? I use tomato paste, but ’tis not the same.
hi celeste, i have an awesome recipe for killer ketchup. very tangy!! http://www.grainfreegroupie.blogspot.com/2011/09/homemade-ketchup-flourless-cakenies-and.html
Cheesecake! I have found lots of dairy free cheesecake recipes but they all require some kind of sugar (honey, maple syrup, etc…). A sugar free, dairy free cheesecake would ROCK!
Heather,
Check out these recipes of mine for some ideas: http://www.spoonfulofsugarfree.com/2010/05/26/healthy-cheesecake/

Great idea! mmmm how about a kind of dark chocolate mud cake? π
Ah, never mind, I forgot you DO have a cheesecake recipe. I need to try it….soon!!! Sorry..
No worries!!! Enjoy π
I know you’ve mentioned a banana ice cream but I am allergic to banana. How about a berry ice cream, or another type of fruit?
Or a sauce for dinner dishes like satay sauce or sweet chilli or a jus of some sort to go with chicken/steak/roo/lamb… I dont like my meat on its own but all sauces have sugar!
Red. Velvet. Cake. Delicious! Can it be done??
also-lasagna sans gluten and dairy. is it possible?
hi Alex,
as an attempt to eat more seasonally, i am looking for a great way to eat artichokes. ive never really been crazy about them, but ive really only eaten them canned and drenched in some sort of dairy-rich and gluteny artichoke dip.
any idea for a fun, delicious and healthy way to incorporate them for the spring would be awesome!!
thanks!
Kell,
I LOVE artichokes fresh and plain with a sprinkle of lemon juice. But I’ll look into the dip idea.
what a great idea! i’d love for you to make a sugar-free version of almond roca! π
Do you try to avoid all sugars or just refined sugar? Like what about fruit and natural sugars like honey? I’d love to see a sugar free chocolate chip recipe!
Emma,
I can’t eat any sugar, honey, agave, syrup, or must sugar substitutes. The only sweetener that I don’t react negatively is pure stevia. I can eat fruit, however, in small amounts, and usually combined with a fat to lessen the effects. The chocolate chip idea sounds great! I will get to work.
