In other news, I bought my first carton of fresh figs! They were on sale at the grocery store buy one get one free. I cannot wait to dig into them. The first recipe I want to try is a healthy “Fig Newton.”

Do you have any favorite fig recipes you’d like to share? Favorite way to eat fresh figs?

figs… oh figs. Bliss! I love them just as they come, but I also love:

    – grilled with any kind of soft white cheese (ricotta, goat cheese, feta) crumbled on top
    – in salads
    – roasted with veggies
    – baby figs (they’re teeny) halved and pushed into oatmeal before baking it

Thanks for the great ideas! I bet they would taste fabulous in baked oatmeal!

i was soo tempted to buy figs today because i really have been craving them, but they were so expensive 🙁 i love eating them whole, but i can imagine how good they would be dipped in chocolate and put in the fridge.. nice and cold with a crunch from the chocolate coating! yum. or coconut butter? ahh maybe i should go back… haha 🙂

Just plain fresh figs is good enough for me. Maybe try making a sauce by reducing them down with water and spices.

We have a lot of homegrown figs and we don’t know what to do with them! (I don’t like them plain/raw, they’re super sweet.) If you find any good recipes, please share! 🙂
