Nature’s Goods

June 16, 2011 By Alex@Spoonful of Sugar Free

I am a part of an organic co-op. Every other Wednesday I receive a huge basket of fresh, organic produce. This week’s:

What do we have in there? Maybe some…

  • Tomatoes
  • Blueberries
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Raspberries
  • Bananas
  • Cucumbers
  • Squash
  • Strawberries
  • Peaches
I’m going to have fun with these! Fruit Crisp anyone?
Also, check out this sunrise. I woke up to a HUGE red sun beaming through my windows. Wow.
Reflection off the water:
Pictures do not do it justice.
Thought-provoking, mind-prodding question of the day:
What are you appreciating from Nature today?
“To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon the verdant green
hills is the most perfect refreshment.”

I’ve been thinking about doing a CSA but I wasn’t sure that I could use all the produce since I only cook for myself. It all looks so fresh and delicious though, not Im kicking myself for not signing up! I will appreciate some fresh veggies this morning, take in the gorgeous lake views and mountains in the distance, and hopefully soak in as much sunlight as possible! have a great day 🙂

Yeah, we go through a lot of produce here, so we use ALL of it….but I’m sure there is a way you can get half baskets of produce somewhere? Or maybe split it with a friend?

I’ve always wanted to be part of something like that but it just somehow hasn’t happened yet.

Cool! My brother and his wife are a part of a CSA and it seems so cool! Its just hard for me since I’m just one person and I never know when I’ll be home or away!

WOW that is an awesome basket of goodies! How much was it to join that program? I am looking to join one around me!

Well, I share my basket with a neighbor who was with the program before so I didn’t have to pay a “starting” fee. The prices vary from week to week, but I think it is usually around 50 bucks?? Maybe??

I am loving fresh produce. It always nice to be able to buy fresh fruits and veggies and them taste good. For the most part, I eat seasonally, but there are those times I buy produce that is out of season. Also, even though it is warm, I am liking the weather.

CSA look like a good deal. It would be fun to pick up your basket and be surprised by what you get. I’m sure all the berries and tomatoes would not last long in my house since I like them a little too much. 🙂
