Welcome to day three of the Sugar Free Challenge! Today is a special day because it is my momma’s birthday! She is so supportive of me, and she even joined the sugar-free challenge knowing it was during her birthday. Don’t worry, though, I have plenty of yummy, sugar-free treats planned for her today! I’ll give you a recap tomorrow.
Here is today’s sample menu:
Breakfast: Katie’s Raw Chocolate Mint Smoothie-pudding style.
Lunch: Lightly sauteed spinach, green peppers, black olives, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, onions, and black beans served on a grilled brown rice tortilla. Side of sliced cucumbers.
Snack: Chocolate Almond Cookie Dough Bites.
Dinner: Hobos. Take a piece of ground beef and roll into a patty. Top with peppers, potatoes, onions, and carrots and wrap in foil. Bake at 375* for one hour. Tastes fabulous drizzled with dijon mustard or Homemade BBQ Sauce. Vegan option: Two Cans and a Potato
Dessert: Mini Smacks! These made heir first appearance yesterday, but here is another look at how I made them:
Follow directions from original Smacaroon Recipe. Put dough in melon scooper…
Bake…
And Enjoy!
Thought-provoking, mind-prodding question of the day:
Do you like mini versions of food or Jumbo-sized?
I’m with the minis. Mini muffins, mini cupcakes, and now mini smacks!

I like minis! I have a commitment problem when it comes to food. I never want to eat the whole thing–I just want to try a tiny bit. So mini foods are the perfect option for me!

Happy birthday to your momma!
Hmmm I’m gonna have to say normal sized versions. ’cause mini are too small and jumbo are too big 😉

Definitely mini-sizes!
Sugar free challenge is going great; I had no idea sugar is in everything! Do you know if Larabars are sugar free; it doesn’t list it as an ingredient; I’ve wanted to make my own but i don’t have a food processor (on my wish list).
Also, does “natural flavors” count as sugar? And what are they exactly???
Thanks!
And I’m super excited to try katies’ chocolate mint smoothie and your smacaroons 🙂

Hey Jenn!
Glad the challenge is going well! Most larabars do not contain added sugar unless they add chocolate chips. The sugar comes from dates. I make my own in my magic bullet, and it works fine. Also, if you have a “squishy” date, you can chop it and squish it with your knife a then chop your nuts really fine.
“Natural” Flavor is not a sugar, but it isn’t really ‘natural.’ it is a collection of gases that is inserted into the food to make it taste better because we taste more with our nose than with our mouth.
