A Sugar-Free Birthday

March 4, 2011 By Alex@Spoonful of Sugar Free

Thanks for all the Birthday wishes!!! I had such a great day…

I woke up and had a great Birthday breakfast!

Veggie Omelet, decaf coffee, and fresh blueberries and bananas!

My fabulous birthday hat and fabulous 'sugar-free' cupcake mug!

Then I made yummy treats for the day…

Sugar-free Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting

Bringing cupcakes to elementary school tennis is a must!

I went about my day as usual, but had a great birthday dinner!

Anthony’s Coal Fired Wings (THE BEST! Grilled instead of basted in a yucky sauce and topped with rosemary), a big salad, Grilled potatoes, homemade gluten-free crackers, Vegan (soy-free, dairy-free, nut-free) spinach artichoke dip, and…..

Raw Chocolate Banana Cream Pie with Chocolate Peanut Butter Crust!!!!

It was such a great day, and I had a lot of fun making new recipes. I have a lot of new recipes to share with you…

Thought-provoking, mind-prodding question of the day:

Did you bring treats on your birthday to school?

It was always a big deal with my elementary school. Cupcakes, donuts, candy, brownies, cookies……sugar crash!

Also, what recipes do you want me to give you first???

I’m glad you had a good birthday!!!! I was homeschooled, so I never really had a school to bring treats too ๐Ÿ˜‰ Plus my birthday was in the summer. But my mom always used to make us “cookie cakes” instead of regular cakes. We thought they were so cool!

Ohmygosh, my sister always asked for cookie cakes!!!! They were (probably still are) her favorite!!

I’m going to feel like such a loser sharing this, but here it goes. My parents were both workaholics when I was growing up, so homemade treats didn’t get made in our house. I really wanted to bring treats for my birthday in 2nd grade, so I brought the closest thing to a treat I could find: graham crackers. Not kidding. I brought a box of graham crackers to school for my birthday treat. How sad is that?

Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a wonderful day! ๐Ÿ™‚

my mom would always make little party bags filled with different chocolates / candies and also some kind of little presents like rulers/pencils for my friends.
I was always excited to get to school early to put a bag on each desk – so that everyone would get a surprise.. hehe. – – LOVE that hat! XXO

Happy Birthday!!! Your birthday hat is too cute! I can’t wait for either recipe, but I’m leaning towards the pie. I never got to bring treats to school because I have a summer birthday. I always wanted to be able to go visit my old teachers and give them cupcakes, but it was never meant to be.

Happy birthday!!! Sorry I havent commented a lot lately, life has been getting in my way. I always hated cake, and ice cream cake would have melted, so my mom and I made rice krispies for my birthday shaped like cup cakes!

In elementary school I always used to get clown shaped cookies from this one bakery (not sure why, because I was never a fan of clowns) for my class on my birthday.
