Peanut Butter, Bananas, and Chocolate-Oh My!

November 29, 2010 By Alex@Spoonful of Sugar Free

I Love Peanut Butter.

I Love Chocolate.

I Love Bananas.

Put them all together, and you have the perfect snack.

Step 1: Make Chocolate Pancakes

I made these delicacies by mixing 1 cup brown rice flour, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, 1 egg, 1 tsp baking powder, splash vanilla extract, and adding liquid (almond milk) to desired consistency.

Step 2: Make Art

Spread with a good amount of peanut butter-don’t be skimpy! One of my pet peeves is when people skimp on the peanut butter-don’t do it! Then, top with sliced bananas and shaved unsweetened chocolate (like Baker’s or Ghiradelli. Both found in the Baking aisle of most grocery stores)

Step 3: Admire your art

Step 4: Devour

Thought-provoking, mind-prodding question of the day:

What is one of your favorite food combinations?

Oooh so hard to say! Peanut butter + bananas + honey is definitely up there…mint+chocolate…bacon and, well, anything? 🙂 [Seriously, I made a bacon and peanut butter sandwich this weekend and it was DELICIOUS…then I had a bacon + avocado sandwich and that was also amazing…]

I LOVE mint+chocolate!!! When I ate sugar, I always bought the Thin Mint cookies from the girl scouts-soooo good! I will have to make myself an unsweet version 😉 And bacon? Oh yeah! You should see my family go through 4 packets of bacon for breakfast-it happens!

Other than that combo, I think a recent favorite of mine has been sweet potato and beans. Oh, and nooch with a drizzle of rice syrup on popcorn (weird, but good).

PB, chocolate, bananas, was the original gods-on-earth snack. My favorite food combo is cucumbers/mango with squirts of lime juice! yum

I too feel your frustration when peanut butter goes unused to its full potential. I have experimented with a number of nut butters but I just cannot seem to part from my beloved peanut butter…plain ole’ peanut butter 🙂

I LOVE chocolate pancakes! I have tried them with banana on top, but never with peanut butter too. Genius! Lately I have been loving coconut with everything – cacao, pumpkin, curried rice, you name it, I’ll add coconut. 🙂

Sorry I have been absent in commenting! I’m just catching up in my blog reading!
Yes, those flapjacks are a work of art!
Fav combo? I like chocolate and hazelnuts for my “sweet craving” and probably avocado with turkey for the “savory” although I often like sweet and salty together like salty caramel!
