After my creamy raw cheesecake yesterday, I wanted more creamy desserts! And FAST!!!
So what’s creamy, fast, and easy to make? Ice Cream!!!!!
What? Homemade Ice cream isn’t fast! -Oh yes it is! When its Banana Ice Cream!
Lightning-Fast Banana Ice Cream
~This ice cream is vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and of, course, sugar-free!
Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana (yeah, that’s it)
Place the frozen banana in a food processor or blender, and blend until smooth. Voila!
It has a consistency like custard, and is perfect for a summer treat. No guilt whatsoever. I like adding a scoop of peanut butter into the blender, and sprinkling it with cacao nibs (like shown above).
This is perfect for when your bananas get too brown. Simply take the banana out of it’s peel, wrap with plastic, and throw it into the freezer. Ice cream is a good alternative for banana bread, or banana muffins.
Thought-provoking, mind-prodding question of the day:
What’s your favorite thing to do with overripe, brown bananas?

Ok…I’m not a huge banana fan but my girls are. For the first time, a couple weeks ago, I put some brown bananas in the freezer to make banana bread at a later time. I see that your post says to peel them first. I didn’t do that-but I did put them in a ziplock bag. Are they still going to be good? Or should I just toss them?
spoonfulofsugarfree says
They will be fine, but it might be a little difficult to peel them. Perhaps wait a little for them to thaw, and then try peeling them.

I use them in smoothies. Especially my chocobanana smoothies. In the summer I freeze them to make the smoothies colder. I find that frozen bananas melt to quickly though.

Wow, I am eating some right now, thanks to you. I have heard about this in several places and your recommendation was the last one I needed to finally try it. 🙂 I am actually eating a bowl of banana ice cream that is the leftovers from the chocolate banana cream pie of yours I just made. It turns out that I had too much filling… so I am snacking on what was extra. 🙂

Hi Sarah! So glad the banana ice cream tastes yummy 😀 And I hope the pie turns out well, too! Let me know what you think!

Are you able to blend the overripe bananas (unfrozen) and then freeze to always keep a handy stash? Would that work or would it freeze to hard?
Sugar Free Alex says
I have yet to try it this way, Karly, sorry! But it seems like it might freeze to hard more like a popsicle than ice cream.

I tried this today for the first time and I’m in love! *-* I blended two frozen bananas with matcha tea (powdered green tea) and it turned into the most amazing ice-cream =) Totally guilt-free ^^
